Last night on the Radio 214 show we discussed the DHS still purchasing mass amounts of ammunition. It was planned to purchase over 1.6 billion rounds over the next 5 years.
But now reports are coming out stating that the Department of Homeland security now how approximately 1300-1600 rounds of ammo per dhs officer, which is 1000 rounds more than an officer in the Army.
Which of course poses the question why?
Enter Representative Darrell, nothing gets by me, Issa of California. He questioned the reasoning for the DHS’s ammunition stockpile on Capitol hill on Thursday as he said, “The idea that you have to have excess rounds, year after year, flies in the face of common sense,
Ha! Common Sense. That doesn’t exist in this administration.
But the big question was if the reason the DHS was purchasing mass amounts of ammo was an effort keep bullets out of the hands of private citizens.
“Top DHS training officer Humberto Medina said he could “say categorically that was not a factor at all” in the purchases.”
But if I remove all my conspiracy theories from this because I do think they are trying to keep the supply for civilians low for whatever reason. And when I go full on conspiracy theorist I think all this stockpiling and urban assault training happening all over the country makes them all the more prepared to enforce laws to remove guns from private citizens.
But I digress. Take all the conspiracy out and I’m left with this utter slap in the face of this administration to remain fiscally irresponsible. They have no problem firing FAA agents but lets overstock on ammo and small armored vehicles for the DHS.
In a Forbes article back in March they smartly observed,
“Spending money this way is beyond absurd well into perverse. Peggy Dixon, spokeswoman for the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center: “The training center and others like it run by the Homeland Security Department use as many as 15 million rounds every year, mostly on shooting ranges and in training exercises.”
At 15 million rounds (which, in itself, is pretty extraordinary and sounds more like fun target-shooting-at-taxpayer-expense than a sensible training exercise) … that’s a stockpile that would last DHS over a century. To claim that it’s to “get a low price” for a ridiculously wasteful amount is an argument that could only fool a career civil servant.”
And then ALSO just today enters Senator Jim Inhofe of the great state of Oklahoma who is introducing a bill to limit Federal Agencies from stockpiling weapons. His press release reads…

If you’re a parent you know one of the very first things you learn that never ever works is the whole do as I say not as I do thing. My daughter is about to get her learners permit and basically I’m freaked out beyond belief because for a relatively passive and calm person when I drive I’m anything but. Congress evidently doesn’t get it either.
Remember when they voted on Obamacare and they said they had to pass it first in order to find out what was in it? Well, I think they’ve now read it. Because the lawmakers are making moves to exempt themselves and their aides from Obamacare.
Yes, seriously. This story has been around for a while but now they are actually trying to do something about it.
Politico reports, “Congressional leaders in both parties are engaged in high-level, confidential talks about exempting lawmakers and Capitol Hill aides from the insurance exchanges they are mandated to join as part of President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul, sources in both parties said.”
“The talks…are extraordinarily sensitive, with both sides acutely aware of the potential for political fallout from giving carve-outs from the hugely controversial law to 535 lawmakers and thousands of their aides. Discussions have stretched out for months, sources said.”
They added the hypocritical element and state, “By removing themselves from a key Obamacare component, lawmakers and aides would be held to a different standard than the people who put them in office.”
And what is their reasoning for this whole do as we say not as we do shenanigans?
The problem stems from whether members and aides set to enter the exchanges would have their health insurance premiums subsidized by their employer — in this case, the federal government. If not, aides and lawmakers in both parties fear that staffers — especially low-paid junior aides — could be hit with thousands of dollars in new health care costs, prompting them to seek jobs elsewhere. Older, more senior staffers could also retire or jump to the private sector rather than face a big financial penalty.
Why I do declare. I think they are realizing it sucks to be controlled by your Government and forced to do something that will potentially cost you thousands of dollars in costs and fines. Welcome to Obamacare Congress!!</itunes:summary>

The Blaze.com and Glenn Beck have been raising serious questions this week over the Saudi national first mentioned after the Boston Marathon bombing. They have the classified event file in hand and have been revealing details this week. DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano has first denied then changed her story on the matter. Tune in to the Vitamin D daily mini-political podcast above to hear the details thus far or read the transcript below.

Transcript:

This is Donlyn Turnbull and you’ve just tuned in for your daily dose of Vitamin D. Over the course of this week The Blaze and Glenn Beck have been unfolding an interesting story about the Saudi national that was mentioned as a person of interest immediately after the Boston Marathon bombing. I wanted to share some of the facts from what they are reporting and ask you to at least become very aware of this because something does NOT add up here.

A Saudi national originally identified as a “person of interest” in the Boston Marathon bombing was set to be deported under section 212, 3B — “Security and related grounds” — “Terrorist activities” after the bombing

TheBlaze received word that the government may not deport the Saudi national — identified as Abdul Rahman Ali Alharbi — as the story gained traction last week

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano refused to answer questions on the subject by Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-SC) on Capitol Hill, saying the inquiry was “so full of misstatements and misapprehension that it’s just not worthy of an answer.”

An ICE official said a different Saudi national is in custody, but that he is “in no way” connected to the bombings.

Key congressmen of the Committee on Homeland Security request a classified briefing with Napolitano

New info provided to TheBlaze reveals Alharbi’s file was altered early Wednesday evening to disassociate him from the initial charges

Sources say the Saudi’s student visa specifically allows him to go to school in Findlay, Ohio, though he appears to have an apartment in Boston, Massachusetts. A DHS official told TheBlaze Alharbi properly transferred his student visa to a school in Massachusetts

TheBlaze sources reveal Alharbi was put on a terror watchlist after the bombing, and Napolitano confirms he was on a “watchlist” Tuesday.

At the time the event file was created for Abdul Rahman Ali Alharbi, it indicated he was “armed and dangerous”

Alharbi was admitted into the country under a “special advisory option,” which is usually reserved for visiting politicians, VIPs, or journalists. The event file cover page indicates he was granted his statuswithout full vetting.

One of the first excuses given by law enforcement when confronted about Alharbi’s pending deportation was an expired visa. But according to the event file, his visa is good until 11-NOV-2016.

The event file indicates he entered the U.S. on 08/28/12 in Boston, MA but says he is a student at the University of Findlay, in Findlay, Ohio. He has an apartment in Boston, and doesn’t seem to have been a full-time student in Ohio.

When a file is created in the system the author(s) are notified via email when it is accessed, and given the email address of the person accessing, so there is a record within the government data system of who deleted them. It was amended to remove the deportation reference, then someone later went in and tried to destroy both the original event file and an amended versions. Copies had already been made.

Earlier today I saw photos of Michelle Obama visting the Saudi national in the hospital but no one else. Please pay attention to this story.

To quote Sherlock holmes, the game is afoot Watson.

This week it’s called the Marketplace Fairness Act. Tune in the the Vitamin D mini political podcast above, or the transcript below to find out why it’s anything BUT fair!

New week and new rights being taken away from you. This week it’s under the delightful guise of The Marketplace Fairness Act. And anytime progressives use the word “fairness” you can rest assured it’s anything but fair and yes I’m physically doing the air quotations.

“The proposed legislation would enable states to force businesses to collect sales tax from customers who live in their state—even when the businesses have no connection to that state. Essentially, retailers would be forced to act as tax collectors for states in which they have no voice or representation.”

Heritage reports it would actually “make interstate competition more difficult, which as was one of the very things the U.S. Constitution was designed to protect.” Derp!

Moreover, the so-called Marketplace Fairness Act “does not take into account the rights of states that do not have a sales tax, which is in part why it has drawn bipartisan opposition from Senators.”

It’s just another way to erode state rights.

EBay Inc Chief Executive John Donahoe said the legislation “unfairly burdens small online merchants and asked eBay users to send an email message to members of Congress asking for changes.”

“This legislation treats you and big multi-billion dollar online retailers – such as Amazon – exactly the same,” Donahoe wrote in emails sent to Ebay sellers, “Those fighting for this change refuse to acknowledge that the burden on businesses like yours is far greater than for a big national retailer.”

It’s due to be voted on in the Senate in the coming days.

A friend of mine had a little argument earlier today on Facebook, and the topic isn’t the point I wish to make but one guys defense for his stance was that the First Amendment protected the act to which we were all discussing. And then he used the word “never” as in that will “never” happen because the First Amendment protects us.

Oh sure that’ll protect you dude. You know since this administration has so much respect for the Constitution and all. Wake up and smell the totalitarianism.

The first Amendment has already been attacked under the infringement of religious institutions being forced to provide birth control under Obamacare. The 4th Amendment was annihilated on Dec 31, 2011 when President Obama decided to sign the NDAA The National Defense Authorization Act where the government claims the right to detain people indefinitely…without due process.

And the last line of defense always seems to come down to the States and state’s rights. The 10th Amendment has been under attack forever. This entire move over education being a Federal thing and not a state thing is frightening at best. But the lines have to be drawn hard in the sand. It’s not a give and take. It’s our freedoms and right now in the name of fairness, they are taking.

A 14 year-old student was arrested this week in West Virginia after an argument with his teacher who was upset over his NRA t-shirt with the depiction of a gun. A dispute ensued which ended with the student being arrested on two counts of obstruction and disturbing the education process.

The Logan middle school student, Jared Marcum, was reported by the Washington Times as saying, “I’m still confused, thoroughly confused,” he told the station. “The school didn’t even make a statement to the news agencies, much less myself.”

The school district has a dress code policy of not allowing images of violence, profanity or discriminatory messages on clothing but says nothing about weapons. Which in my opinion would be ridiculous if they didn’t allow a child to wear a shirt with one of his Constitutional rights on it. Welcome to the world of the ridiculous.

Allen Lardieri, Jared’s father, vowed to fight against the charges not just for his son but to ensure it never happens again. He worries for his son’s future by having a black mark like this on his son’s record.

The same is true in politics. Obama seems to be lacking a bit in his skills. Ok, lacking a lot. Tune in above or read the transcript below for your daily dose of Vitamin D!

When I was 19 I got a job teaching ballroom dancing. It was many moons ago back when many body parts still defied gravity. And even though I had an extensive dance background I had never learned ballroom. So I began training and learning. And got pretty good at it pretty fast. They would host these little dances for the clients. And the owner who had been in the business for years would take the time to dance with everyone. It didn’t matter if it was someone like me just learning ballroom but still very skilled at dance, or someone who had never danced before in their life, When this guy was leading anyone could do it. A good leader makes all the difference. There’s something about someone who knows how to lead that instills confidence. It’s easy to respond to that.

But confidence is one thing. Arrogance is another.

Obama had a slight meltdown yesterday. No, let’s call it more of what it was. A 3 year old temper tantrum when he didn’t get his way over gun control.

He resorted to name calling, like denouncing gun rights groups as willful liars. He used guilt trip by calling it a shameful day in Washington. What day isn’t? He used bully tactics for those who didn’t fall into line without question. After all why should anyone be allowed to think differently than he.

”One administration official told POLITICO the White House was especially disappointed with Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (D-N.D), the only dissenting Democrat not up for re-election next year, who refused to go along with the bill even after White House chief of staff Denis McDonough visited her office to make Obama’s case on Tuesday.”

There we go. They threw her name out there. Let the back lash begin and all for what? Supporting the constitution? I thought that was Obamas chief job in the first place.

Good leaders don’t throw fits. They don’t use bully politics. Don’t divide a nation. Don’t result in personal attacks. They lead. They unify. They support the will of the people not some sick personal agenda against things like oh say, freedom.

My friend Sherry made a great point yesterday. She wrote this.

We are constantly bombarded with messages about the dangers of cigarette smoking.. We get all the health risk indicators and death statistics thrown at us daily.. Innocents are afflicted at alarming rates by 2nd hand smoke.. Yet outside of a few hard core anti smoking groups there has been no movement to ban cigarette sales at all.

Why ban what you can tax? President Obama recently proposed a 94 cent tax increase on each pack but even he knows there comes a point when you have taxed something so much most people can’t afford to buy it.

Guns are the new cigarettes.. I think that was the plan all along. they knew they would never really get the support to take our guns from us. It won’t surprise me if the gun control issue is silently dropped and a new tax on gun owners is put in place and then every time something happens involving gun use they will raise it higher and higher.

I thought that was really interesting insight. Who’s to say this isn’t about money. After all with what Obama has shown us his presidency has always been about two things. Money and control.

Man I’ll be glad when this dance is over.

Happy Birthday Income Tax! And Happy Tax Day to all the rest of you. The income tax turns 100 today! That’s right it began in 1913. And as Grover Norquist points out in his opinion column today in the Washington Times, for a country that is 237 years old, it makes you wonder how did we survive without an income tax for the first 137 years? Hmmmmm? It’s quite the mystery.

He also points out how we as individual states have individual state taxes but eight of those states do not. For instance, Texas doesn’t have a state income tax. But California does. Hmmmm? How does Texas survive without it. Surely California is doing much better fiscally since they are charging such high taxes. Oh wait. They’re not. Well that’s a mystery as well isn’t it?

The Federal income tax came about, according to the article, because of” progressives who felt the rich should pay their fair share. They promised that only really rich people would have to pay the income tax, and that tax rates would remain forever low.”

And he uses a term I absolutely love, “Trickle-down-taxation”. People seem to miss that pretty frequently or should I say ignore it. But he gives an amazing example. “Politicians promise that their new tax will hit only “the rich.” Over time, the tax spreads out to just about everyone. The Spanish-American War brought the federal excise tax on phones at a time that only the rich few owned phones. Soon, phones were used by all Americans, and for a hundred years after the Spanish-American War was over, we were all paying the “temporary” tax on the rich few to pay for the long-finished war.”

But now we are entering an entirely new day with the IRS. They are now officially the long arm of Obamacare.
“By Tax Day 2015 all American taxpayers will have to provide proof of insurance to the IRS, so today starts the clock for those without insurance to either comply or face the penalty — $95 for 2014, $325 for 2015 and $695 for 2016.”

Chris Stirewalt of Fox News explains,” The government will be using the tax returns due today to decide who will receive an estimated $25 billion in new insurance subsidies next year…the tax returns due today will provide the initial basis for how one’s relationship with the government and health insurance functions.”

I think we should go with progressive thinking when it comes to Federal Income Tax. He’s lived to be a 100. He’s had a good life. Let’s put him before a death panel and let’s just go ahead and pull the plug already. Because not only is this not getting better, but with 76,000 pages of tax codes, this is getting worse.

Thanks for tuning in to the Vitamin D, your mini-political podcast. In Obama’s proposed budget he suggests capping retirement accounts. But I pose the question, why is it any of his business? Although his budget won’t pass, his mentality that he would even have the right to this is shocking to say the least. You can listen to the podcast or read the transcript below. And if you are super talented, you can do both.

Transcript:

“Every day when I post articles I typically have at least one person pose the question to me, “yeah but does that really shock you?” My first response is usually no of course it doesn’t surprise me but people need to know these things so I’ll keep writing them. Somehow I equated not being shocked with not being informed. But after putting some thought into it I realized, yes, I’m shocked.

And almost every single day this President does something that shocks me. Which I now know is exactly the right response. People have become so overly desensitized to what Obama is doing to us and the severe disgusting, theft of our freedom that if you aren’t shocked then something isn’t right.

A few weeks ago when we heard about Cypriot government deciding to go in and seize the savings of their citizens, I was shocked. And I thought that’s it right there. That’s that mentality this administration has that we owe the greater good. That what we own isn’t ours it belongs to the collective. We didn’t build that. So how can we own it.

Erroneously I thought this will happen years down the road all because of how Obama set it up. Well, I was wrong. It’s already here. He hasn’t gone in and seized your savings, yet but He believes he has a right to tell you what to do with your money right now. And he gets a say in how you choose to save it.

Obama has a say in your personal money. I’m not talking about what you owe and pay in taxes, I’m talking about your personal money. US News and world reports says “The Obama Administration’s new budget will cap retirement savings for the nation’s super-rich, but it’s possible that it could affect even smaller-scale savers”

Obama will propose a cap limiting the amount of annual return a retirement account can create to $205,000.

Now listen carefully to this statement from the White House to Politico just last week.

“Under current rules, some wealthy individuals are able to accumulate many millions of dollars in these accounts, substantially more than is needed to fund reasonable levels of retirement saving.”

Who the hell is he to determine what YOU need?

The Employee Benefit Research Institute “projects that the account threshold could fall as low as $2.2 million, and even lower if and when interest rates grow.”

They explain of course that only affects a small amount of Americans. But the biggest news is that some experts fear it would discourage employers from providing retirement plans all together.

Yes, a lot of us don’t have that kind of money and it doesn’t immediately affect us, but if I d don’t help protect the so called wealthy’s income it’s only a matter of time before they come slowly down the line. And what if Obama put a cap on your other possessions? After all, your money is just your possession albeit one you’ve earned or were given. What if he says he’s capping the number of children you have? Or what if he’s capping how many cars you’ll be allowed to own, or candy bars for that matter?

It’s ALL none of his business. Because he has zero right to your private possessions including your savings and retirement accounts.

Brian H. Graff, the CEO of the American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries said in a statement that he worried businesses would “lose their incentive to maintain a plan, and either shut down the plan or greatly reduce benefits.”

The good news is the chances of his budget passing are nil. The bad news is, the fact Obama has boldly continued to step in this arena and that he actually believes he holds this right.

This is Donlyn Turnbull and you’ve just tuned in for your Patriotic daily essential, the Vitamin D. The D being me and I promise to stop rhyming and sounding like Jay-Z now.
You know there’s something wrong when you find yourself agreeing with the ACLU. But I do. I was already irritated over the government deciding to save every tweet I’ve ever tweeted even when I’m pmsing as well as everything you’ve ever tweeted on a massive data base…forever! But I also understand what I tweet I’m choosing to make public. My emails on the other hand I do NOT wish to make public.
But “The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has claimed that agents do not need warrants to read people’s emails, text messages and other private electronic communications, according to internal agency documents.” According to an article today on TheHill.com
“They go on to explain, In a 2009 handbook, the IRS said the Fourth Amendment does not protect emails because Internet users “do not have a reasonable expectation of privacy in such communications.” A 2010 presentation by the IRS Office of General Counsel reiterated the policy.
Under the Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA) of 1986, government officials only need a subpoena, issued without a judge’s approval, to read emails that have been opened or that are more than 180 days old.”
But we are in Obama’s era now. And don’t be going all “but..but…George Bush…patriot act” on me! I disagree with that as well and believe that’s also a violation of our 4th Amendment rights.
But now with Obamacare about to swoop down on our heads like a predatory bird, with really big teeth, the IRS will be the long arm of the law concerning Obamacare. Because the IRS knows where to get you and get you good. With fun little things like seizing funds or confiscating your paycheck.
Privacy groups such as the ACLU argue that the Fourth Amendment provides greater privacy protections than the ECPA, and that officials should need a warrant to access all emails and other private messages.
And hells yes it does.
No the forefathers didn’t know we would be communicating electronically in 1789 when the bill of rights were adopted, or that we could actually have very nice quality lives these days albeit digitally. But if Ben Franklin knew about this, he would fight against this tyranny as well. He would argue we STILL have a right to due process regardless of how fancy our communication and possession of said communication has become.
But in 2010, a federal appeals court ruled that police violated a man’s constitutional rights when they read his emails without a warrant.
Despite the court decision, U.S. v. Warshak, the IRS kept its email search policy unchanged in a March 2011 update to its employee manual, according to the ACLU.
In an October 2011 memo obtained by the ACLU, an IRS attorney explained that the Warshak decision only applies in the Sixth Circuit, which covers Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee.
Which is such a load of crap, not to mention more smoke and mirrors. It’s all smoke and mirrors.
Tyranny by any other name is still tyranny. We’re just fighting a whole new revolution, a seemingly digital one.
